To ensure that your chimney or flue is kept clean and safe it is important to have this serviced on a regular basis. All active chimneys during the burning of solid fuel will experience a build-up of Carbons and Creosote, more commonly referred to as 'soot'. This build-up of soot which sticks to the chimney system is flammable and if allowed to build up, this is putting your house at risk of a chimney fire. This will also restrict the airflow inside the chimney to the stove or fireplace. Moisture content of wood is a key factor and should be around 20% moisture. We highly recommend purchasing a Moisture Meter to check the logs.

It is recommended that you sweep a chimney twice a year using wood when in use; smokeless coals once a year; along with oil and gas once a year.
